Average Nurse Salary

How much is the Average Nurse Salary? Well, being a student nurse, there is no doubt in my mind, that I will begin a career as a nurse in the near future. As the date of graduation is fast approaching, now is definitely the time to think about my future job. I feel everyone should think about their career goals seriously.

Your Average Nurse Salary Goal!

After all, this is the main reason why our parents spend a huge chunk of their money on our education studies.  Everyone should have a short term as well as long term goals regarding their career path. As for me, ever since I was a kid, it has always been in my mind to become a nurse. I had decided that, once I had graduated, I will work as a medical-surgical nurse to improve my clinical skills seeing that the average nurse salary for that job is quite High.

The nursing profession has always attracted me for many reasons. Firstly, by being a nurse, I am the one who will assist doctors to save people’s lives and show care for others. No doubt, a nurse needs to look after all patients and to see those patients’ needs are taken care of quickly. If there are any emergency cases in the hospitals, a nurse has to react quickly to take control of the situation. Well, this certainly attracts me a lot. Unlike other professions, nurses rely on their judgments and experience to handle each and every situation. Indeed, nurses shoulder a lot of responsibilities. However, it is quite sad that many do not give credit to nurses. Patients always thanked the doctors but not the nurses. For me, the duties of a nurse are indeed very noble.

A Much Higher Than Average Nurse Salary

In addition, the average nurse salary is actually quite attractive. One could get around USD65,000 per year, which well above the average of other professions. The nationalized averages are between $46,000 and over $65,000 per year with over time and bonuses being even more!

So, if I am willing work more hours per week, I would be entitled for overtime as well. Also there are numerous working benefits associated with the nurse profession. For example, there are the paid time off which includes around one hundred and twenty hours of sick hours and around ninety six hours of vacation hours.

Other benefits include premium holiday pay, pay incentives, bonuses, and on-call pay. In addition, I would have good working shifts, meaning I would not be stick to the usual 9 to 5 all the time. Many hospitals and medical centers also offer full or partial discounts for their nurses to go for higher education classes, tuition’s, trainings and etc. This is extremely good as I do intend to keep on furthering my education studies in the years to come which will just boost my individual average nurse salary to levels much higher than normal.

If I want to be a good nurse, I will need to enhance my skills and knowledge in many fields. Nurses must know all basic first aid so they can assist in helping the patients feel comfortable before the presence of doctors. Nurses also need to help in preparing the patients before they go for examinations or operations.

Another thing that fascinates me about the nursing profession is that nurses are excellent when it comes to communication skills. After all, they need to stay in touch with patients most of the time. For instance, if they are to pass messages from the doctors, they have to do it in a subtle manner to take care of the patients’ feelings. Bad news shall be presented in a way that will minimize the pain of the patients. I really admire those nurses who can keep smiling even though they see pain and suffering everywhere. This is because they understand the importance of life and joy, even if there are agonies at their surroundings. As they say, life goes on. Also, by constantly smiling, it will make the nurses approachable. Just by smiling and talking to patients, nurses are able to heal the patients’ wounds.
